Digital radiographs

Digital X-Ray

The Animal Medical Center is proud to have the most advanced digital X-ray unit in veterinary medicine.  Our Sound Technology unit takes clearer images than traditional films. It also gives our doctors the ability to magnify specific areas, alter contrasts, invert images and compare multiple images side by side. We also utilize AI technology to assist in x-ray interpretation and have the ability to easily send images to a board certified radiologist for review. Images can be emailed to you or a specialist if your pet is going to a specialty hospital.

Dental Suite

Dental Suite

Oral and dental disease is the most common disease our pets face.  Recent research by the American Veterinary Dental Society reveled that 80 percent of dogs and 70 percent of cats have oral/dental disease by the age of 3 years old.  At the Animal Medical Center of Itasca, oral and dental health is a top priority.  The Dental Suite was specifically designed for animal dentistry.  Preventative dental cleanings are the most common anesthetic procedure performed at the AMC of Itasca.  Cleanings include:  Scaling tartar/plaque, polishing, fluoride treatment and a comprehensive oral examination.  In the event that diseased tooth/teeth are found on examination, the veterinarians are able to perform X-rays and oral surgery may be necessary.

Dental disease not only can be a source of pain and discomfort when chewing, it can also be a source of infection that can spread to other areas of the body.  When dental disease is observed, the doctors at the Animal Medical Center will discuss the appropriate testing and therapies for your pet.

Class Four Laser Therapy Unit

Therapy laser is not a new technology in veterinary medicine and has been available at many specialty animal hospitals since the 1980s.  Recent advancements have made this tremendous therapy available at local pet clinics.  The Animal Medical Center of Itasca is equipped with multiple lasers for in hospital use and rental class I lasers for pet owners to continue treatment at home. We are excited to provide this non-drug, therapeutic alternative for our patients.

Therapy laser provides concentrated energy to a specific diseased area.  This energy allows for improved healing and repair of inflamed tissue.  Therapeutic laser encourages blood flow which carries healing factors to these inflamed tissues, thus reducing pain, swelling and improving healing times.  The veterinarians at the Animal Medical Center can discuss whether therapy laser is right for your pet.

The Animal Medical Center of Itasca offers abdominal ultrasound evaluations.  Ultrasound allows doctors to acquire detailed images of pet’s internal organs.  Ultrasound is a quick and non-invasive procedure and is useful in further investigating abnormalities seen on X-rays and blood screens.  Ultrasounds are particularly helpful in diagnosing masses, enlargements or developmental abnormalities of the different internal organs (liver, spleen, kidneys, adrenal glands, stomach, intestines, etc.).

  • "My dog Hercules tore his ACL. After meeting with Dr. Deeke, not only was my mind at ease, but he made sure my dog was properly cared for. Within weeks Hercules was not limping and back to his happy self. Thank you Dr. Deeke!"
